Byron Taylor is District 23 Toastmasters 2014 International Speech Champion

Byron Taylor is District 23 Toastmasters 2014 International Speech Champion

Byron Taylor is preparing to represent District 23 members at the International Speech Contest in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

After winning the District Toastmasters International Speech Championship on May 3 of this year, we are proud that Byron Taylor is preparing to represent us at the World Championship contest.  The contest will be held in August at the 83rd Annual International Convention in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The speech that carried Byron to District Champion? ‘The Girl, the Quote, and the Epiphanies’.  Dana LaMon, 1992 World Champion of Public Speaking, and District Governor Jim McCabe of Albuquerque, NM presented the award.

What is our champion doing to prepare?  He is determined to bring the trophy home to District 23!  After multiple victories, Taylor knows that practice and more practice is the key to success.  Additionally he is making travel arrangements, getting the necessary vaccinations, and saving up for expenses not covered by Toastmasters International (if you want to help Byron – and reduce some of his stress – go to http://www.gofundme.com/TieAdventuresMalaysia).

Taylor joined Toastmasters on May 29, 2013. He now belongs to clubs in three different cities, including Natural Gassers Toastmasters, which meets at 6:00am every Friday morning at the Coffee Memorial Blood Center at 7500 Wallace in Amarillo, Texas.

For the first time, the Toastmasters International Convention will be held outside of North America.  Join Byron Taylor, several from District 23, and thousands of other Toastmasters as they gather in beautiful Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia for the 2014 International Convention.  For registration, visit www.toastmasters.org and click on ‘2014 International Convention’.
