The highest award presented by Toastmasters International is the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award. Hours, weeks, and even months can be required just to complete one of the steps in this daunting process. But for those Toastmasters with the drive to accomplish it, all the work is worth it to receive the bronze medallion, the admiration of their peers, and the skills gained.
For the 2016-2017 year (July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017), the following District 23 Toastmasters have earned the Distinguished Toastmaster Award:

HPL Project: Deana Baucom and I when she was Area 41 Director and I was Division D Director identified low membership as an issue at all of the local clubs in Las Cruces. My HPL project focus on addressing this issues and worked on various initiatives to increase membership in all local clubs, which included being on a Radio Talk Show, newspaper, social media and word-of-mouth advertising. Membership has increased at the clubs but I would rather give the credit to the club leaders and just to know that membership is better makes me feel good.
