Ending with the crowning of our International Speech contest champion, the District 23 Spring 2015 Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, highlighted Toastmasters from around the district as well as guest Toastmasters from Arizona and California.

Byron Taylor of Amarillo, Texas, won the International Speech contest Saturday evening and will move on to Las Vegas to represent District 23 in the International Semi-finals. Kenny Grannville of El Paso, Texas, placed second and Eric Tonningsen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, took third. This is Byron’s second year in a row to win the District 23 International Speech contest title.
The Table Topics contest took place on Friday with the first place trophy going to Larry Luna of Albuquerque. Pam Davis of Hobbs took second place and Timber Barkley of Amarillo placed third.
Saturday also held the annual district officer elections during the business meeting. The following officers were elected:
- District Director: Tracy Thomason, DTM
- Program Quality Director: Natalie Waters, DTM
- Club Growth Director: Jenny Zappone, DTM
- Division A Director: Danni Andrew, ACB
- Division B Director: Analisa Martinez, CC, CL
- Division C Director: Ken Flack, ACS, ALB
- Division D Director: Carlos Lobato, CC, CL
- Division E Director: Roger Coffey, DTM
- Division F Director: Bobby Kimbro, DTM
Past International Director Tim Swearingen of Arizona and Toastmasters International’s newest Accredited Speaker, Barbara Khozam of California, delivered keynotes during the conference.
