RebeccaLong_mgDistrict 23 congratulates EnergyPlex Toastmasters charter member, Rebecca Long. On November 4, she was elected to be the Lea County Commissioner for District 2.

At 19 years old, she became the owner of her own business, Rebecca Long Agency, a Farmers Insurance affiliate in Hobbs, NM.

Four years ago when Susana Martinez was running to be Governor of NM, Rebecca Long was her County Captain. Working with and getting to know Martinez as a person inspired her to run for office.

When Rebecca announced her decision to run for office, people told her she couldn’t win because her opponent had more name recognition than she did. Thanks to the people who told her she couldn’t do it, her determination soared.

She stepped out of her comfort zone, sought mentors, organized her volunteers, and hit the campaign trail at full speed. Rebecca Long won the primary race with 66% of the votes and was unopposed on November 4, 2014.

Toastmasters and residents of both Lovington and Hobbs, NM are proud that Rebecca was elected to be the Lea County Commissioner District 2.

Rebecca Long stated, “I’m proud to be a member of the EnergyPlex Toastmasters and appreciate the feedback and mentoring I received in becoming a more competent speaker and leader.”
