Toastmasters District 23 will be holding their annual Fall Conference at the Hilton Garden Inn in Amarillo.
There will be ‘Tall Tales’ and ‘Evaluation’ speech contests along with a series of educational workshops. The contest will be showcase the winners of division contests to determine the District 23 Champion. The public is invited to attend for some healthy doses of inspiration or laughs.
Educational workshops will be held during the conference that will focus on leadership, communication, and marketing skills. This program promises to enrich all aspects of your life.
One of the keynote speakers will be the 1990 World Champion of Public Speaking, David Brooks. Brooks is an award winning trainer, a voice over artist, speech writer, and coach.
In his first session titled ‘Magic Moments,’ David Brooks reviews outstanding moments of speakers in finals and semi-finals of Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking. In his second speech titled ‘A Failure to Communicate’ he takes a very funny look at times we don’t communicate what we thought we did.
International Director and ‘working ambassador,’ Karen Blake will be a keynote speaker. Blake has been a Toastmaster since 2000 and has attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation, the highest level of
educational achievement in the organization, three times.
Karen Blake’s keynote address titled ‘The Toastmasters Experience’ is based on what makes Toastmasters International time and what has kept it going for 90 years. Karen will share with you her reflections and personal stories about the heart and soul of the Toastmasters experience.
Blake will conduct an educational session titled ‘Enriching the Toastmasters Experience.’ Why do individuals join Toastmasters? What makes them stay? In this session, you will learn what you can do to enrich the Toastmasters experience for the members in your club, area, division and district. You will also hear about what Toastmasters International is doing to enrich the Toastmasters experience for members around the world.
