With the conference canceled due to COVID-19, district leaders asked a handful of members to put together an online District Council meeting and an online contest. This past weekend, those online events, the first of their kind in our district, took place.
District Council
During the District Council on Friday, May 15, 2020, the District Council elected our district officers for the year July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021. Our newly elected, incoming district officers are:
- District Director: MyChelle Andrews, DTM
- Program Quality Director: Carlos Lobato, DTM
- Club Growth Director: Stephen Ralph, DTM
- North Division Director: Erik Schlagel, VC4
- Central Division Director: Jeff Miller, DTM
- South Division Director: Grecia Mejias, IP4
- Panhandle Division Director: Position Open
- East Division Director: Gary Johnson, PM3
The District Director appoints all other officers in our district (Area Directors, PRM, etc.). Current District Director Kenny Granville, DTM, will move into the position of Immediate Past District Director and continue to serve as an officer of District 23.
Our district now includes five divisions instead of three. This was passed as part of the district realignment. The new alignment is described in this detailed analysis by District Director-Elect MyChelle Andrews.
In addition, District Director Kenny Granville announced the appointment of the 2021 conference chair: Donna Labatt, DTM, PID. Donna noted that the probable locations for the conference are Clovis or Portales, New Mexico. Both cities have a strong base of membership and can draw from surrounding cities. They also both provide excellent venues for our district conference.
